(More customer reviews)I've owned three pairs of Fannings prior to the J-Bays. The Fanning is the best sandal I've ever owned. Zero break-in period and long lasting comfort. They only last about 1-2 years though, which is why I wanted to try something new.
I've got wider feet (D/E width) so the straps went through some painful break-in for the first few days of use. I'm used to performance footwear so the break-in was no big deal for me, but for people with wide/wider feet it may not be so pleasant.
In terms of cushioning, they're not as soft to walk on as the Fanning due to the lack of an airbag, but they're still comfortable nonetheless. The leather is amazingly soft. These are the best feeling sandals I've used in terms of materials.
For a dressy sandal, these are the ones to get. If you don't own a pair of Fannings, I definitely recommend that you get a pair. They are more comfortable than the J-Bay but are more of a casual sandal.
