I took them to Costa Rica and unfortunately got some sand and shell fragments in the space where the toe strap goes into the base. It didn't take long before they wore through the nylon and my flips were history. Living in CA and working from home, I wear flip flops all the time. I needed a replacement pair fast. I wanted good quality, with at least some arch support and a solid foot bed. These columbia flips do the trick very nicely. My best friend - who is a flip flop hater - even said that they were nice. The pattern on the strap ads a level of femininity, and the pattern is duplicated on the footbed just under the toes - cute. As for the reports that the toe of the flip flop is too long - I kinda see what people are talking about, but not enough to worry about. I don't feel like I'm wearing elf shoes or anything. Also, the traction on the bottom is better than your average flip flop, but should not be considered serious traction for all terrain needs. All in all, they're a great flip flop with great support (heal and arch), a strong strap, and appear to be very durable. That said, while they do have some feminine touches, they would not be considered delicate or girly. Get 'em - they're great!
