(More customer reviews)I actually bought these shoes so my daughter could gain a tiny bit in height for an activity we were doing- just an inch gave her enough of a "boost" to reach up to something and be able to participate much more easily. I was intending on letting her wear them for the duration of the activity and then that would be that and they could go into the "dress up" pile.
However, my daughter LOVES these shoes so much they have become her daily "go-to" shoes. The wedge heel is a soft foam material that doesn't squish down, and the shoe is well made and really doesn't come off as a "flip flop" at all, but more a dressy sandal. The design is cute and perfect for a little girl- no bling (which is FINE by me) or surprises anywhere. Normally I wouldn't touch a platform shoe for a little kid with a ten foot pole (unless it was for dress-up) but these flip flops are actually really nice sandals disguised as wedge flip flops.
These shoes are also extremely comfortable- my daughter has worn them all over the place (including the botanical garden, out shopping, to school) and she likes them better than her crocs. They are cool and comfy and make her feel a little bit bigger without looking the least bit ridiculous, which I think is why she likes them so much. They look like little girls' shoes, and wear like little girls' shoes which is nice. G. is a bit of a "girly girl" so the sweet factor of these shoes make them even more appealing to her. I also worried she might have trouble walking in them because of their height, but that's not an issue at all.
The best part are the elastic straps that go around the heels- for some reason the photos don't show them, but they really help keep the shoes on my daughter's feet. I hate how she's always sort of slipping her feet out of her regular flip-flops, whether she intends to or not. These stay firmly on her feet and we never have to backtrack to find a shoe.
So while I wasn't intending on using these shoes as anything more than a "boost" they actually have become an essential part of my daughter's wardrobe. We just got her a second pair so she's now got one of the Butterfly design and the Hula Girl design. Se's happy, comfortable, and safe in them which makes me happy. What more could you ask for?
BTW, my daughter is extremely petite both in height and general size so I'm not sure if these shoes would be suitable for wider feet. Gracie's feet are sometimes too narrow for certain shoes (especially crocs) and while these are roomy, they don't slip or move around her feet like some shoes do.

What will she loves most about the Tropicana flip flop from Scott Hawaii? We're not sure, because it's certainly comfortable with a foam footbed, and its wedge heel gives her a grown-up lift. The straps also are adorned with a little hula girl appliqué that she'll flip for.
